The Baptist, Ceramic | $750

My first sculpture, inspired by Rodin's emotive style, captures John the Baptist's transcendent passage from death to life in clay ceramic. Imprisoned by King Herod Antipas for condemning his unlawful marriage, John's fate was sealed when Salome, prompted by her dance at Herod's banquet, requested his head on a platter. Bound by his promise, a reluctant Herod ordered the execution.

La Pieta and the Pitta, Oil on Canvas, 102cm x 76cm | $1800

This artwork is from a children’s book collaboration that I am still developing. Children are on an adventure, through Australian bush. The composition draws on Michaleangelo’s La Pieta, which depicts Mary Holding Jesus’ lifeless body. The image captures a moment in the story when the children are filled with lifeless exhaustion, but the Pita bird urges them onward.

This artwork intertwines elements from Caspar David Friedrich's "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog" and Eugene von Guérard's views of Mount Kosciuszko, crafting a unique narrative set in the Australian bush. The presence of laughing kookaburras enriching the scene with a sense of wonder and Australian familiarity.
